NEET 2027 Syllabus: Subject Wise Chapters for Physics, Chemistry and Biology

Exam info2 Jun 20269 min readBy the GetReadyForNEET teaching team

The NEET syllabus is set by NMC and published by NTA with the information bulletin. Since 2024 it follows the rationalised NCERT of Class 11 and 12, which trimmed several older chapters. The 2027 syllabus is expected to stay on this base. Here is the whole thing, unit by unit, with notes on where marks actually come from.

NEET 2027 Physics syllabus

45 questions, 180 marks. Physics decides ranks because it has the widest score spread. Mechanics and Electrodynamics together carry roughly half the paper.

Class 11 unitsClass 12 units
Units and measurementElectrostatics
KinematicsCurrent electricity
Laws of motionMagnetic effects of current and magnetism
Work, energy and powerElectromagnetic induction and AC
Rotational motionElectromagnetic waves
GravitationOptics
Properties of solids and liquidsDual nature of matter and radiation
ThermodynamicsAtoms and nuclei
Kinetic theory of gasesElectronic devices
Oscillations and wavesExperimental skills

NEET 2027 Chemistry syllabus

45 questions, 180 marks, split across Physical, Inorganic and Organic chemistry. Inorganic is the most NCERT loyal section of the whole paper, so reading those chapters line by line pays directly.

Class 11 unitsClass 12 units
Some basic concepts of chemistrySolutions
Structure of atomElectrochemistry
Classification of elements and periodicityChemical kinetics
Chemical bonding and molecular structured and f block elements
ThermodynamicsCoordination compounds
EquilibriumHaloalkanes and haloarenes
Redox reactionsAlcohols, phenols and ethers
p block elementsAldehydes, ketones and carboxylic acids
Organic chemistry: basic principlesAmines
HydrocarbonsBiomolecules

NEET 2027 Biology syllabus

90 questions, 360 marks, half the paper. Botany and Zoology get 45 questions each. Biology is where a serious NCERT reader builds the score floor: Human physiology, Genetics and Ecology alone usually cross 100 marks.

Class 11 unitsClass 12 units
Diversity in the living worldReproduction
Structural organisation in plants and animalsGenetics and evolution
Cell structure and functionBiology and human welfare
Plant physiologyBiotechnology and its applications
Human physiologyEcology and environment

Where the marks come from

  • Biology: Human physiology, Genetics and evolution, and Ecology are the three heaviest units year after year.
  • Chemistry: Organic chemistry (especially the Class 12 oxygen and nitrogen chapters) plus Coordination compounds and Chemical bonding.
  • Physics: Mechanics, Current electricity, Magnetism and Modern physics. Numericals dominate, so practising past year questions chapter by chapter matters more here than anywhere else.

Turning the syllabus into a plan

A syllabus list is not a plan. Sequence it: finish Class 11 foundations before Class 12 applications in Physics and Chemistry, and run Biology NCERT in parallel from day one. The month by month NEET 2027 study plan does exactly this, the chapter by chapter checklist tracks your progress, and every chapter here is covered by NCERT linked practice questions that show the exact NCERT line behind each answer.

Frequently asked questions

Is the NEET 2027 syllabus reduced?

NEET has used the rationalised NCERT based syllabus since 2024, which dropped several older chapters. NEET 2027 is expected to continue on the same base. Always confirm against the official syllabus PDF that NTA publishes with the information bulletin.

Is NCERT enough for NEET 2027?

For Biology and Inorganic chemistry, NCERT covers the large majority of questions. Physics and Physical chemistry need NCERT concepts plus heavy numerical practice from a question bank and past papers.

How many chapters are there in the NEET 2027 syllabus?

Roughly 20 units each in Physics and Chemistry and 10 units in Biology, drawn from Class 11 and 12. Units group multiple NCERT chapters, so plan at the chapter level, around 79 NCERT chapters in total.

Did NEET remove Section B?

Yes. Since 2025 the paper is back to 180 compulsory questions with no optional section. See the full pattern in our NEET 2027 exam pattern guide.
